About Us
Special Kids in the UK started as an online support group in 2000. In July 2005, Special Kids in the UK became a registered charity in order to expand its services and reach more families.
Our Objectives
Special Kids in the UK is a member based charity offering contact, information and support
for families of children and young people with special needs throughout the United Kingdom. Special Needs covers a broad spectrum including
learning, physical and behavioural difficulties. We are able to offer our members:
- Secure online forum to discuss and gain parental advice on issues that affect their child
- Ability to use a realtime chat facility to discuss topical subjects and make friends
- Members only area of our website to disclose more information and members hints and tips within a secure setting
- Subsidised regular meet ups throughout the United Kingdom and the opportunity to meet others in similar situations
- Alex's Big Mack Lending Service - the opportunity to borrow a single message communication device for a child with communication difficulties for a period of time
- Regular electronic newsletter offering information and news on education, services, leisure and respite
- Useful information received through external organisations on subjects relating to children and young people with special needs
